biography

I am a musician, audio engineer, and music producer. As a musician I have performed and done studio work in clubs and studios around New Haven CT and New York NY, in rock, jazz, and R&B bands.

In addition to my recent freelance work, I am also the owner, curator, and chief engineer at Firehouse 12, a venue presenting creative and improvised music. My work engineering improvised music has taught me so much. As I develop this site more, I will update it with more links to some of this work.

Finally, along with Taylor Ho Bynum, I co-founded the critically acclaimed record label Firehouse 12 Records back in 2007. Running the label has been very rewarding, giving me the opportunity to work with visionary artists at the top of their field, including Anthony Braxton, Bill Dixon, Myra Melford and Mary Halvorson. To work on a complete package for a given suite of music, from the mic selection for the first tracking session, through to the graphic design of the package, is very satisfying.

I received both a BA (1997) and an MA (Music Theory - 2001) from Yale, where I am now a lecturer in the MFA Sound Design program at the School of Drama. I live in New Haven with my wife Megan Craig, and our two daughters.
