  • 2012 In The Studio

In July, I recorded some joyful, spacious music written by Richard Reed Parry from Arcade Fire, titled 'Music for Heart and Breath'. We did most of the tracking at Dreamland Recording Studio in Woodstock, NY, in a hundred-year-old church. The mixes are now complete...I am so excited to share the music once it is released!!

Later in the fall, I had the pleasure of working as a keyboard player with my good friends in The National, making their new record Trouble Will Find Me. I spent nearly a month with them at Clubouse Studios in beautiful Rhinebeck, New York, exploring all kinds of keyboard textures - piano, Hammond Organ, Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer electric piano, Vox Jaguar organ, and lots of time on my lovely little Mopho X4 through a variety of Moogerfooger effects pedals. I also brought my Moog Taurus III bass pedals with me.

I also completed work as an engineer and mixer on an album of new music composed by Bryce Dessner, guitarist in The National, which he wrote for the renowned string quartet Kronos Quartet. This suite of music gives some insight into the depth of Bryce's many musical interests and capabilities. This album will be released on ANTI- on November 5. More info here!!

I also edited, mixed and mastered a suite of music called 'death speaks', composed by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lang. The musicans on this were Bryce (guitar), Shara Worden (voice), Nico Muhly (piano), and Owen Pallet (violin). I'm thrilled Cantaloupe (the record label) decided to issue a 45 RPM 12" version of the material on vinyl!!
